The contrast between a Mediterranean cyclone forming close to Malta and Gozo and higher pressure to our east will create a strong airflow from tomorrow Thursday to Saturday.

The wind is expected to be Force 7 gusting Force 8 to 9 a southsoutheasterly direction with wave heights over 4 metres high from a southeasterly direction tomorrow Thursday veering southwesterly and increasing to Force 8 gusting Force 9 to 10 on Friday with gusts potentially even higher during any rain showers! Maximum significant wave heights of over 4 metres from a SE direction veering WNW on Friday. Wind decrease to Force 7 gusting Force 8 to 9 on Saturday with very rough seas over 5 metres high from a NW direction on Saturday.

Some slight damage may occur, especially on hilltops and exposed areas. The Gozo Channel ferry might also have to take the longer route around Comino at times.

Rain showers that may be heavy and thundery with possible flooding in the usual low-lying areas are also expected on Friday.
