The worst of the bad weather is expected from late tonight till mid-morning tomorrow as the low pressure system close to the Maltese Islands intensifies. It is still possible that this low pressure system become a Medicane. A Medicane is similar to a small hurricane that generates strong winds, heavy rains and thunderstorms. This phenomenon has often been named Medicane or Mediterranean Cyclone or Tropical-Like Cyclone (TLC). Such Medicanes have formed in the past in various areas of the Mediterranean including close to the Maltese Islands.
