An intense low pressure system is still expected to form very close to the Maltese Islands over the weekend (see inside red circle on GFS forecast map) with rain showers that may be heavy, thundery and with hail at times.
Any rain showers may be accompanied by strong winds and flooding is possible in the usual low-lying areas. Till now, the worst seems to be from late Saturday till early Sunday and any thunderstorms that do form during this time period may also be severe!
