High pressure over eastern Europe and a cut-off low to our west will produce a very strong to Gale Force 8 easterly airflow over the Maltese Islands from 1pm tomorrow Tuesday till 1pm on Thursday.
A cut-off low is a closed upper-level low which has become completely displaced (cut off) from the basic westerly current and moves independently of that current. Cut-off lows may remain nearly stationary for day often bringing lots of wind and rain, or at the very least, damp and gloomy weather.
