mauve stinger david marshallThe mauve stinger is is the most common jellyfish found around the Maltese Islands.

If stung here is what you must do:

- wash with sea water but do NOT rub

- if available, apply a mix of 50% baking soda and 50% sea water for 5 minutes

- use a credit card or razor to remove residual tentacles4

- apply an ice pack for 5-15 minutes.

If pain persists, consult your pharmacist or doctor.
